It’s Chestnut Season

November 19, 2007

And sometimes, if you’re lucky, at a restaurant after dessert they’ll bring you some. This happened to us recently at a restaurant in Piglio.

I loved how they were all wrapped up in their little napkin blanket, to keep them warm and toasty!

I miss roasted chestnuts! Somehow this has not caught on in Dublin. I have to go to the UK to get my fix - there you have all these little street vendors selling roasted chestnuts and caramelised peanuts in the winter…

OMG - the jealousy. It is overwhelming. And after my near death experience with the faux chestnuts, I’m especially jealous of this toasty display.

Sadly I’m sure they’ll be gone in a month when I’m there. Just tell me you ate them all, k?

I just had roasted chestnuts for the first time last week. They are divine, and addicting! :)

I’m doing a chestnut post today too. I hope that’s ok. When is chestnut season officially over? I can’t remember. I’m probably having them 3 times a week right now.

I have never had one of these. What do they taste like roasted?
